FAQ – Family Photography

Where does my photoshoot take place?

Family photoshoots take place at your home or in a nice outdoor location. There’s no strict format, it just depends on what you prefer as a family. We can even combine a bit of time at home and some outside, this often works well for little kids.  When you get in touch to book your date I’ll advise you on what I think will work best for you and I know a load of awesome locations in this area that I love to shoot at.

What should I wear?

Your photoshoot is all about capturing your life as it really is, but I understand that most people like to feel good when their having their photos taken, and that normally means wearing something you love. Honestly, there’s no set rules, the only thing is to be aware that big logos/writing on tops can be really distracting.  And also please don’t wear matching outfits, all in the same colour, unless you’re aiming to look like a cult!

What happens if it’s raining?

If we’ve scheduled an outdoor shoot and we have heavy rain we can reschedule.  I rarely take on more than one shoot in a day, so there is often some flexibility on the day, if this isn’t possible for you then we can change to another day. I do not offer refunds for a shoot cancelled due to poor weather, but I’m always happy to reschedule.  If there is light rain I am happy to still continue the photoshoot, this can often be a fun way to capture children having fun outside, it’s rare I meet a child who doesn’t enjoy getting wet and muddy! And these can make for beautiful photographs.

What happens if my child is ill, or we have to cancel?

As a mum I totally understand that life doesn’t always go to plan!  I am happy to reschedule shoots due to illness etc., I do not offer deposit refunds in this situation but will re-book you into another time to suit you.

I have used another photographer in the past but the cost of prints afterwards was really high, I’m worried I won’t be able to afford to own my photos after the shoot!

I’m very concious that some photographers charge very high prices for printed products.  My complete session package includes all your edited files provided to you on a USB, so you can print your own images if you wish. However, I always encourage people to use a professional printer, rather than a high street one.  I have a range of products available to buy straight from your gallery to make things super simple for you and I create fine art albums and framed prints.

How will I get my files?

All your edited files are presented in a password protected gallery which you are welcome to share with people.  You can download them all straight from there or I am happy to send out a USB with your prints.

Do you use backdrops or props?

No chance!  This really isn’t my style of photography.  I’m passionate about creating beautiful photos from real moments and connections.  If that’s what you love too, then get in touch!

How do I book?

Just fill in the contact form and let me know what dates work best for you and then we can talk about the type of session you’d like and where we should do it.  After that it’s a 20% deposit to hold your date and a contract to sign online.  Then we’re good to go!
